Which Trap Has You Stuck?
Question 1 of 5
My son drew a picture of our family.
Elena was in the garden, surrounded by colorful squiggles that might have been flowers or butterflies — it was hard to tell with four-year-old art. In her arms, his baby brother, rendered as a pink smudge with dots for eyes.
Our son had drawn himself in what he called the play box — a cheerful rectangle filled with crayons and blocks and a stuffed bear.
Then there was Papa.
I was in a separate box. Gray. No door connecting it to the garden. No window. A stick figure holding a small rectangle — phone or laptop. At four years old, he couldn’t tell the difference. Didn’t need to.
Above the gray box, a scribble. When I asked what it meant, he said „work.“
He couldn’t write the word yet. But he knew what belonged there.
The Framework
Three patterns that create motion without progress.
Chasing visibility instead of value.
The applause feels like progress, but it’s borrowed. You perform for validation instead of progressing toward your goals.
Escape Question:
„Who am I trying to impress?“
Adding complexity to feel competent.
The elaborate system that proves you’re serious. Knowledge becomes a barrier, not a bridge.
Escape Question:
„What’s the simplest version?“
Moving fast without knowing where.
Optimizing the wrong life. Climbing a ladder leaning against the wrong wall.
Escape Question:
„What would I want if I wasn’t afraid?“
„The trap doesn’t care how smart you are. It feeds on smart.“
This book won’t give you another productivity system. You have enough of those.
You’ll understand exactly why you’re stuck. Not lazy. Not undisciplined. Caught in a trap that’s invisible until someone shows you its edges.
You’ll have names for patterns you’ve felt but couldn’t articulate. The hunger for recognition. The addiction to complexity. The absence of direction.
You won’t leave with a new routine. You’ll leave with something more valuable: the ability to catch yourself mid-trap. The noticing gets faster.
„The trap doesn’t disappear. The noticing gets faster.“
„Finally, someone who admits they’re still figuring it out — and that’s exactly why I trust them.“

No. This book won’t give you a new system, routine, or 30-day plan. It will show you why those things haven’t worked — and what’s actually keeping you stuck.
No. But it will help you see your patterns clearly. The traps don’t disappear — you get better at catching yourself. That’s more honest than promising transformation.
